Clear Pallet stretch wrap – Moving objects from one place to another is a hectic task. Because during transit on the bumpy roads and rough seas may cause a lot of damage to a product. It may be a great concern for all of us. But it may pose an even more great problem for business problems. As they may get bruised or damaged during shipment. Even when they are stacked on pallets in a warehouse, they may fall off and get damaged. To avoid all these catastrophic events it is better to use packaging materials.
One such cost-effective packaging material that serves as a boon to many entrepreneurs is the clear pallet stretch wraps. But what are they? How can we use them? Are there any additional benefits of using these
? We’ll get to know the answers to these questions in a bit.Â
What Is A Clear Pallet Stretch Wrap?
As the name suggests, a stretch film wrap is a highly stretchable plastic film that used to wrap items. With its elastic recovery properties, it can tightly bind and hold items. It is primarily used to wrap products on a pallet. This helps in securing the products to each other and to the pallet itself. The pallet stretch wraps that we get in the market come in a wide range of widths, thickness and types and so can be used based on the need of a particular product. They help in reducing product loss and discourages load tampering. Moreover, a pallet that is secured with a pallet wrap highly reduces worker injury when the loading and unloading process is done. Although they are commonly used in unitizing pallets, at times the pallet wraps are used for bundling smaller items as well. There are numerous types of stretch film wraps like hand stretch film, bundling stretch film, extended core stretch film, machine stretch film, static dissipative film and pallet netting stretch wrap.Â
The stretch wraps are usually made of linear low-density polyethene or LLDPE. This material is fabricated by the process of copolymerization of ethylene with alpha-olefins-the most common of it are hexene, butene and octene. When higher alpha-olefins like octene or hexene are used it improves the properties of the stretch film. Especially it enhances the properties of elongation at break and puncture resistance. The product that comes out is clear and transparent and hence they are known as clear pallet stretch wrap. In some circumstances, other types of polyethene and PVC are also used to produce stretch film wraps. Many pallet films have about 500% stretch at the break. Nevertheless, during usage, it is stretched only about 100-300%.
How To Use Clear Pallet Stretch Wrap?
As stated above, there are several types of stretch wraps and each one has to be used and applied in a specific way.Â
Using a hand pallet wrap
- Select a pallet: First, choose a pallet that is good in shape and make sure that there are no broken boards or splitting edges in it. The size of it should also be close to the right size of your items to accommodate it.
- Stack your goods: Stacking the goods is very essential at it will determine the efficient working of your stretch wrap. So make sure that the items in your pallet are packed as close together as possible. Otherwise, the space in between will loosen the pallet wrap and will make the load unstable. As a result, you will have a greater risk of product damage. If it is impossible to eliminate all the gaps, you can then use anti-slip layer sheets to fill in these gaps. Hence you can prevent movement. And also remember to stack heavier items at the bottom and place the smaller and lighter items on the top. It would be best if the goods are places within the boundaries of the pallet if you would like to reduce the damages caused during transit.
- Attaching the wrap: The next crucial step is selecting the wrap. Choose a brand that would make the experience a good and easy one. Pre-stretched wraps give greater holding force while requiring less effort to wrap them. In cases when you want the product to breathe, you can use perforated wraps. To start the process of applying it, you would have to peel off a couple of feet of the pallet film from the roll. Then squeeze about eight inches of the end and make it into a loose rope. Then, thread it through and around the corner of your pallet. Tying it would make sure it is secured well.
- Start wrapping from the base: Now, start wrapping around the base of the pallet while you also keep a consistent firm stretch on the film. To ensure stability and avoid any of the products from slipping off, make sure you wrap it securely enough. Wrapping around at least four times around the base will help in keeping the corners tight.
- Work your way up: From the base, just keeping rolling upwards. Also, make sure that each layer overlaps the previous one. Once you have reached up, and you feel that the load needs to be more stable start working your way back down.Â
- Secure the wrap: Once you’ve done wrapping it all around the load. tear it and stuck the end to the pallet. You will not need tape to stick it as pallet wraps can stick to themselves. So just stick it or tuck it in under one of the pallet edges.Â
- Test the stability of the load: To ensure that the load is stable and the goods won’t shift during transit, check it,. You can do the checking by trying to push the upper items. Even after pushing, if you didn’t feel the load lose, then you’ve done a good job! It’s perfectly done.Â
Using a machine wrap
Using a machine pallet wrap is way easier. But you would need a pallet stretch wrap dispenser to do the job. You can easily pack high volumes of goods using these. All you have to do is just set the parameters and place the pallet on the machine. And then wait for the machine to complete the job.Â
